The challenge
Solaire Resort Entertainment City runs a strict occupational health and safety programme, with risk assessments, permits to work and certified equipment for every high-risk task. Its façade and glass-cleaning crews reach the exterior glass by walking along a cantilevered canopy and descending in the gondola, and they needed certified anchorage to stay 100% tied off along that route.
The solution
828 Cable System supplied and installed a horizontal lifeline fixed to the reinforced concrete of the canopy, following the canopy edge along the façade.
- Concrete-mounted end and intermediate brackets, plus corner-bend brackets to follow the canopy edge
- Stainless steel wire rope with a stainless steel travelling carriage
- Tensioner with integrated swaging and energy absorption to keep the line at the right tension
- Spring-type shock absorber to lower the forces in a fall arrest
- Layout planned to reduce swing-fall risk at the roof edge
The result
Cleaning crews can now move the full length of the canopy without unclipping, with anchorage designed for reinforced concrete and installed to internationally recognised practice.
