- Design, supply, installation and tension testing
The challenge
Dumduma Construction and Trading Corporation (DCTC) needed a safe way for its teams to inspect and maintain the roof of MRT-7 Station 10. The trapezoidal roof is sloped, so anyone walking it is exposed to slips and falls, and there were no suitable anchor points for full-body harnesses and lanyards.
The solution
828 Cable System designed, supplied and installed a certified horizontal lifeline that runs across the roof, so workers stay clipped on from the moment they step onto it until they leave.
- End and intermediate brackets fixed to the trapezoidal roof sheets with rivets and self-drilling TEK screws
- 8 mm stainless steel wire rope with a travelling carriage, so workers move freely without unclipping
- Tensioner with swaged terminations and energy absorbers to hold the correct cable tension
- Spring-type shock absorber to reduce the load on the worker and the structure in a fall
- 288 m of lifeline in total
Tested and witnessed
After installation, the lifeline was tension-tested with a Hydrajaws test kit to confirm the cable met the design and manufacturer specifications. The tests were witnessed by DCTC and the project owner, San Miguel Corporation, with their inspectors. Results were satisfactory and the system was handed over ready for use.
The result
Roof cleaning and maintenance at Station 10 now happen with 100% tie-off, on a system that has been verified on site rather than assumed.
